"The quota law for people with disabilities is not being respected," says Aribé.
To try and solve the problem, Fundat, with the support of councilman Lucas Aribé, organizations defending the rights of people with disabilities, and the Ministry of Labor, will hold training courses aimed at this specific audience; "when we talk about social inclusion, we are talking about all spheres of society," says Fundat.
Sergipe 247 – People with disabilities will have the opportunity to participate in training, education, and entrepreneurship courses offered by the Municipal Labor Foundation (Fundat). In a meeting this week, the organization's management, along with the Municipal Council for the Defense of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Senac, the Ministry of Labor through the Regional Labor Secretariat (SRT), councilman Lucas Aribé (PSB), and the Association of Visually Impaired People of Sergipe (Adevise), defined how they will serve this segment of the public.
“Our intention is to work with the Aracaju society, but we held this meeting so that we can also focus on people with disabilities. When we talk about social inclusion, we are talking about all spheres of society,” points out Randrey Vilar, entrepreneurship coordinator at Fundat. To this end, a database will be implemented with the names, addresses, and phone numbers of people with disabilities in Aracaju.
Councilman Lucas Aribé emphasized the importance of promoting training and vocational courses for people with disabilities, as this facilitates their inclusion and, especially, their retention in the job market. "The important thing is to direct this preparation in a practical way, so that the Quota Law (which guarantees the presence of people with disabilities in the job market) can be respected, which is not currently happening, with the excuse that there is no qualified workforce to meet the demand," he stated.
According to the SRT coordinator, Urcelina Porto, based on accurate information, working with these people can be done in a fruitful way, and she emphasized the importance of having people with an inclusive perspective participating in these actions. “This project should involve people who understand inclusion as a whole. Bringing these institutions together, including the presence of Lucas Aribé, a city councilor, is ideal. We have more strength. It makes us more optimistic,” she stressed.
For Maria Goretti Medeiros, president of the Municipal Council, this marks a new moment in the struggle of people with disabilities. “We are in a different moment, when the three branches of government—legislative, executive, and judicial—are reaching out to us. This is important because we know there is a combined effort to solve existing problems,” she emphasizes.
Councilman Lucas Aribé also stated that this partnership with Fundat brings significant benefits to the entire society, as it provides knowledge and autonomy so that each individual can achieve their place as a productive citizen. “Meetings like this allow us to reflect and act to change the current situation, considering that the hiring of a person with a disability should be viewed like any other. After all, what the employer expects from the employee is professionalism, dedication, punctuality, in short, attributes that everyone can offer if prepared for it,” he says.
