Tocantins 247 - More than 400 rural producers, political and community leaders welcomed Senator and reelection candidate Kátia Abreu (155), from the "Experience Makes the Change" Coalition, on Thursday evening, July 31, in Araguatins, a municipality in the Bico do Papagaio region. All those present unanimously reaffirmed their recognition of the work done by Senator Kátia Abreu for the 25 municipalities of Bico do Papagaio and expressed their confidence in the continuation of these services that have helped transform the reality of this region. The meeting was attended by the senator's first alternate, Donizeth Nogueira, federal deputy and reelection candidate Irajá Abreu, and state deputy candidates Rochinha Miranda and Ho-Shi-Min. After Araguatins, Senator Kátia Abreu has a full agenda in the Bico do Papagaio region this Friday, August 1st. It begins with a meeting with leaders in Augustinópolis, followed by Axixá, Sítio Novo, and concluding the day in the city of Tocantinópolis with a meeting with state representative Bonifácio Gomes and local leaders.

In Araguatins, Senator Kátia Abreu spoke about the resources she has allocated to the municipalities of Bico do Papagaio, through parliamentary amendments, for actions in the areas of health, education, and infrastructure. She highlighted the neglect that the current state government has shown towards this region and its families: "We urgently need to end this irresponsibility of the current state government, which insists on ignoring the needs of the municipalities of Bico do Papagaio and transforming this administration into a political campaign office for four long years. We are together, with Marcelo Miranda and Marcelo Lelis, to put an end to this group that thinks it can manipulate everyone's lives," declared Kátia Abreu, who received the guarantee of her re-election from everyone present.

The businessman from the communications sector, Raimundo Cabeludo, made a point of participating in the meeting and speaking about the confidence he has in Senator Kátia Abreu's work. "I believe that one of Kátia Abreu's greatest qualities is fulfilling her commitments and her willpower to transform the reality of a suffering people and present opportunities. Therefore, I have no doubt that she is the best and greatest option for the Senate and Marcelo Miranda for the government," he stated.

Speaking about her commitment to removing the Bico do Papagaio region from the Territórios da Cidadania program, which includes municipalities bordering on poverty, Kátia Abreu recalled actions she helped bring to generate benefits for families in Bico do Papagaio. These included the Travessia Bico program, committed to providing technical assistance to four thousand rural producers in the region in honey, fruit, fish farming, and dairy farming; the Travessia Leite program, which aims to serve five thousand small and medium-sized producers in Tocantins, providing technical assistance and rural extension to dairy farmers, increasing production and offering conditions for them to be competitive in the market; training through Pronatec Rural, which has already trained more than 24 young people throughout Tocantins since its creation; and health initiatives, such as the Útero é Vida program, which carries out a series of actions for the prevention of cervical cancer and prostate cancer.

Tocantins Waterway and Praia Norte Ecoport

Kátia Abreu also argued that it should be the obligation of any government to encourage the transformation of the North-South Railway platforms and Tocantins Waterway terminals into agro-industrial parks, using logistical modes to bring economic development to Tocantins. "What entrepreneurs need are better conditions to produce at a lower cost. Tocantins is privileged with three major transport modes, and it is up to our leaders to have the capacity and commitment to attract investors who take advantage of our logistics," the senator argued. Regarding attracting investment, the senator announced that she is working with the Federal Government to expedite the licensing of the Praia Norte Ecoport, with the possibility of it becoming a ZPE – Export Processing Zone, attracting even more investment and increasing Tocantins' competitiveness.
