Court bans Souto's campaign material

The Electoral Court ruled that the campaign material of the 'United for Bahia' coalition, headed by gubernatorial candidate Paulo Souto (DEM), is outside the standards and limits established by electoral law and, therefore, must be removed from the streets; a representation from the legal department of Rui Costa's campaign, from the PT party, showed that the inflatable balloons (blimps) exceed the permitted four square meters; the judges understood that the opposition affixed signs in prohibited locations and must also remove them.

Bahia 247 - The Electoral Court has ruled that the campaign material of the 'United for Bahia' coalition, headed by gubernatorial candidate Paulo Souto (DEM), is outside the standards and limits established by electoral law and, therefore, must be removed from the streets.

A legal representation from Rui Costa's campaign (PT party) showed that the inflatable balloons (blimps) exceed the permitted 4 square meters. The judges understood that the opposition had affixed signs in prohibited locations and must remove them as well.

Lawyer Carla Nicolini stated that the 'Pra Bahia Mudar Mais' coalition will appeal the decision ordering the removal of the portable signs for Rui, Otto Alencar (senatorial candidate), and Dilma Rousseff, "because the size of the advertisement is correct."

According to her, the poster is four square meters, but the Regional Electoral Court (TRE) considered that the frame/artifact that supports it should be included in the measurement, "which we understand to be a different interpretation of the resolution." The frame used was adopted so that the displayed signs do not pose a danger of falling or flying away, causing accidents.
