The Federal Court has prohibited the indefinite strike by employees of the Regional Electoral Court of São Paulo (TRE-SP), scheduled for tomorrow (30). The strike could affect the first round of elections, next Sunday (5). They are demanding salary adjustments and correction of a 56% shortfall, accumulated over eight years.

According to a preliminary injunction granted by Federal Judge Cotrim Guimarães of the Federal Regional Court of the 3rd Region, the strike during the week of the national elections represents "a serious threat to democracy, as it would jeopardize the viability of the largest popular demonstration after years of a regime that eliminated the individual and collective rights and guarantees of the Brazilian people." In case of non-compliance, the Union of Federal Judiciary Workers in the State of São Paulo (Sintrajud) will be penalized with a daily fine of R$ 300.

Last Wednesday (24), as part of the so-called Judicial Blackout, the employees held a public demonstration in the capital of São Paulo, with a 24-hour strike. The intention was to pressure negotiation. The strike could interrupt activities such as the installation of software, with candidate information on electronic ballot boxes, and the analysis of those with pending issues in the Electoral Court.

Agência Brasil tried to contact Sintrajud, but received no response.
