The court has set the Simed elections for the 30th.
The 2nd Labor Court in Palmas has ruled that the election for the new president of SIMED (Union of Doctors in the State of Tocantins) will be held on the 30th, from 8 am to 18 pm. The Judiciary granted one of the main demands of list 2: decentralization of voting in the interior of the state. Ballot boxes will be used in the municipalities of Araguaína (northern part of the state) and Gurupi (southern Tocantins). In the election that was suspended on the 31st, there were only ballot boxes in the capital of Tocantins, and doctors from other cities would only vote by mail.
Tocantins 247 - The 2nd Labor Court, in Palmas, decided, this Tuesday (7), that the voting for the election of the new president of Simed (Union of Doctors in the State of Tocantins) will be held on the 30th, from 8 am to 18 pm. The Judiciary met one of the main demands of list 2: decentralization of voting in the interior. Ballot boxes will be used in the municipalities of Araguaína (north of the State) and Gurupi (south of Tocantins). In the election that was suspended, on the 31st, there were only ballot boxes in the capital of Tocantins and doctors from other cities would only vote by mail.
The agreement was approved by Judge Francisco Rodrigues de Barros, with the consent of representatives from list 2, "Class Responsibility," and the incumbent party. The election had been suspended by court order due to irregularities and lack of transparency.
“This is a great achievement for doctors in the interior. In the previous voting model, which was rightly suspended, many colleagues from the interior wouldn't have been able to vote because they only received the ballots by mail a day after the voting date. And others haven't even received them yet,” said general practitioner Hugo Magalhães, 34, presidential candidate for list 2, who participated in the hearing.
Voting by mail will be maintained, but with transparency, as it has been determined that Simed will be obliged to send the letters with the ballots to all unionized doctors next Friday (10), at 10 am. In order to avoid situations such as loss of the document or even doctors not receiving the ballots, the deadline for sending and receiving the correspondence is double that established in the previous voting model.
