Court orders removal of the deputy mayor of Maracanaú.

A preliminary injunction requested by the Public Prosecutor's Office of the State of Ceará was granted, ordering the immediate removal of the vice-mayor, Carlos Eduardo Bandeira de Mello, for acts of administrative misconduct. In April 2014, the court had already ordered the freezing of assets and the removal from office of the vice-mayor and others accused of involvement in a scheme of bid rigging, corruption, and conspiracy.

A new court ruling, this time in the Civil sphere, has been issued against the vice-mayor of Maracanaú, Carlos Eduardo Bandeira de Mello. Judge Carla Suziany Alves de Moura, of the 3rd Civil Court of Maracanaú, granted a preliminary injunction on the 4th of this month, requested by the Public Prosecutor's Office of the State of Ceará (MPCE), ordering the immediate removal of the vice-mayor until the conclusion of the investigation of the Public Civil Action for administrative misconduct.

In addition to the deputy mayor, the following individuals are accused of administrative misconduct: Adna Cordeiro Câmara, Adrinaldo Oliveira Almeida, Alisson Dehon Cordeiro Câmara, Antônio Cléber Uchoa Cunha, Débora Lopes de Araújo Bezerra de Menezes, Edson Pereira de Sousa, Edvirges Honório de Medeiros, Egídio Cordeiro de Abreu Filho, Elaine Cristina da Costa Mota, Flávio Rodrigues Lira, Flávio Santana Cunha, Francisco Eduardo Nascimento dos Santos, Jairo Fontenele Marques Filho, José Carlos Guilherme, José Flávio Uchoa Cunha, Marcos Barboza da Silva, Valter César Almeida Barbosa, and the company Cacique Construções e Serviços Ambientals LTDA.
In the preliminary ruling, the judge prohibited all individuals from holding public positions related to bidding processes and contracts in the Municipality; suspended the administrative contracts signed with the company Cacique Construções e Serviços Ambientals, prohibiting any payment to that company; and ordered the freezing of the movable and immovable assets of all defendants, up to the value of R$ 4.709.344,92.

In April 2014, the judge of the 1st Criminal Court of Maracanaú had already ordered the freezing of assets and the removal from office of Carlos Eduardo Bandeira de Mello, among others accused of involvement in the scheme of bid rigging, corruption, and conspiracy against the Public Administration of Maracanaú.
