Alagoas 247 - The president of the Legislative Assembly of Alagoas (ALE/AL), Deputy Luiz Dantas Lima, had R$ 61 blocked from his personal accounts for failing to comply with the decision of the 17th Court of Public Finance to return to the State Treasury the amounts withheld at source from the Income Tax (IR) of the Legislative Branch's employees. The decision was made by Judge Alberto Jorge Correia de Barros Lima.

The decision was issued in a lawsuit filed by the State Public Prosecutor's Office (MPE), which is investigating irregularities in the management of the Assembly. According to the MP's inquiry, the ALE/AL has been failing, at least since 2010, to fulfill its obligation to transfer to the State Treasury the amounts related to the income tax withheld from employees.

In the decision, the judge upheld the ruling that the Secretary of Finance of the State of Alagoas, George Santoro, must not transfer to the Assembly the amounts related to the income tax of the civil servants starting in July, if the decision is not complied with by the Legislative Assembly in June, with the amounts remaining at the disposal of the 17th Court.

The judge also provisionally accepted, pending a final decision, the arguments of the vice-president of the Legislative Assembly, Deputy Ronaldo Medeiros, that during his time as president of the Assembly, he did not receive any judicial order to comply with the decision and that he was only notified after he was no longer in office.
