The motive for the crime was the young man's inability to accept the end of his romantic relationship with the teenage girl. The police chief reported that the young man made a series of attempts to win the girl over, without success.
Police are treating the murder as a crime of passion. Another participant, Davi José de Souza, 49, a friend of the family, was charged with homicide. He waited for Misael in front of the school, intending to give him a ride.
