Deputies were absent from more than a third of the sessions in 2012; Jovair was absent 41 times out of 91 sessions held; Leréia was absent on 31 occasions and has 16 unexcused absences. Jovair was a candidate for mayor of Goiânia last year and lost to Paulo Garcia. Leréia was one of the figures in Operation Monte Carlo due to his friendship with Carlinhos Cachoeira.
Goiás 247_ Federal deputies Jovair Arantes (PTB) and Carlos Alberto Leréia (PSDB), both from Goiás state, are among the parliamentarians who missed more than a third of the sessions in the Federal Chamber in 2012. Jovair is the champion of absences among the deputies of Goiás. Out of 91 sessions, he attended 50 and was absent on 41 occasions. Last year he ran for mayor of Goiânia and came in second place, losing to Paulo Garcia (PT) - who won in the first round.
Carlos Alberto Leréia gained national prominence in 2012 due to his friendship with the illegal gambling operator Carlinhos Cachoeira. The congressman was caught in Operation Monte Carlo having phone calls with Cachoeira and never hid his close relationship with the racketeer.
Leréia attended 60 sessions and was absent 31 times. The numbers show that he had 15 justified absences and 16 unjustified absences.
