Journalist receives death threats for being homosexual.
In a message addressed to journalist Fernando Oliveira, presenter of Estação Plural on TV Brasil, Mulheres on TV Gazeta, and columnist for Agora São Paulo, the criminal says he will shoot him with a .38 caliber weapon because of his sexual orientation. "Faggot, freak, scoundrel, crook, mentally ill, or just 'Fernando,' I've already noted ALL your schedules, and I'm going to unload my .38 on you. I hate faggots, they're promiscuous, and a wellspring of AIDS. It's no use running or hiding (much less filing a police report)," the email says.
Rio Grande do Sul 247 - Journalist Fernando Oliveira received death threats via email for being gay. Presenter of Estação Plural on TV Brasil, Mulheres on TV Gazeta, and columnist for Agora São Paulo (Grupo Folha), he posted about the email he received on social media.
In the message, the criminal says he will shoot him with a .38 caliber gun because of his sexual orientation. "Faggot, freak, scoundrel, crook, mentally ill, or just 'Fernando,' I've already noted ALL your schedules, and I'm going to unload my .38 on you. I hate faggots, they're promiscuous, and a cesspool of AIDS. It's no use running or hiding (much less filing a police report)," the email says.
The journalist reported the message. "Today I received a death threat. Someone sent me a message saying they know all my schedules, that they're going to unload a .38 on me for one simple reason: I'm gay," Oliveira said on Instagram.
"We live in fear. No matter how much comfort a small portion of the LGBT population has, they also live in fear. Fear of being excluded by their family, of having their love hidden, of being beaten. Of dying. Even though this country is made up of people who insist that homophobia doesn't exist (no heterosexual dies for being heterosexual, hellooooo!), even though homophobia isn't criminalized, even though investigations rarely lead to anything, I will pursue my rights. I will demand punishment for those who promote terror," he continued.
According to an interview given to the website Superpride, Fefito is already taking the necessary steps. "First of all, I contacted the newspaper's legal department for guidance on the next steps. They will accompany me to the police station to file a police report. This will not go unpunished. I will demand that an investigation be opened so that the IP address can be traced," he stated.
