"The guy was lying in wait, he asked who Daniel Carniel was. When I said it was me, he started physically assaulting me, threw me into the entrance hall of the building where the TV station operates, started kicking me and said: 'This is for the denunciations you are making on TV'," stated the presenter.
The victim tried to defend himself. Carniel recounted that he fell after being punched, and then the assailant started kicking him. Unable to get up, he could only protect his head.
Carniel also said that he had already been "warned" to take care of his own safety. And he reaffirmed that the attack was motivated by his work as a journalist.
The Military Police arrived at the station shortly after the attacks. And according to Rádio Gaúcha, the Garibaldi Police Station opened an investigation to determine the perpetrator, the circumstances, and the motive for the crime.
