Jony doubts Amorim's leadership: "an important politician is giving up"
The state president of the PRB party, councilman Jony Marcos, reiterated that Senator Eduardo Amorim (PSC) does not have sufficient political leadership to be a candidate for governor; "When I see Representative Zeca, even before the election, already giving up on being a candidate. Simultaneously, a leader from the interior, Serginho de Glória, who announced he would be the representative for the Sertão region, suddenly says he no longer has the conditions to compete. When we see Representative Zé Franco say he doesn't intend to run in the next election, it's clear there's a difficult situation. It shows they're not managing to unite," he stated.
Sergipe 247 - Dissatisfied, since the end of last year, with the way Senator Eduardo Amorim (PSC) tried to force an alliance with the PRB by pressuring the party's national leadership, the state president of the party, councilor Jony Marcos, again questioned, this Wednesday (12), the leadership capacity of the senator, who is a pre-candidate for governor. "I'm not saying that Senator Eduardo Amorim can't be a candidate. I'm saying that he doesn't have the strength at this moment to bring that leadership," Jony said, in an interview with radio host George Magalhães.
The councilman's statement came while he was commenting on the withdrawals of pre-candidacies from the bloc led by Amorim. So far, current state deputy Zeca da Silva (PSC) and the former mayor of Nossa Senhora da Glória, Serginho Oliveira, have withdrawn from the race for one of the seats in the Legislative Assembly. According to Jony, who is a pre-candidate for federal deputy, state deputy José Franco (PDT) may also withdraw from the reelection race.
"When I see Representative Zeca, even before the election, already giving up on being a candidate, I understand that his prediction is that the field for a seat in the Chamber of Deputies is very tight and difficult, due to a lack of candidates and parties. Simultaneously, a leader from the interior, Serginho de Glória, who broke with Governor Jackson Barreto's group and declared support for another pre-candidacy [that of Amorim], who announced he would be the representative for the Sertão region, suddenly says he no longer has the conditions to compete. I understand that they are assessing the game as very difficult and without any chance of winning the elections," he emphasized.
"When we see Congressman Zé Franco say that he doesn't intend to run in the next election, he who is a very beloved leader in Socorro, it's clear that there's a difficult situation," Jony stated, emphasizing that Zé Franco himself confided this to him two weeks ago. "We see important politicians thus withdrawing from the election. It shows that they are not managing to unite [the voters]," he stressed.
Last Tuesday (11), Jony told Jornal da Cidade that "it's not yet Senator Amorim's time". "Amorim is the best senator in Sergipe. He is a great leader, but he is very new to politics and this has made it difficult for him to put together a good coalition," Jony explained.
