247, with Jornal da Cidade and Rita Oliveira- "Governor Marcelo Déda promised to resign from his mandate in March 2014 so that I can continue in the position of governor and it will not be necessary to leave the government for the entire year of 2014. I trust him." The statement was made yesterday by the acting governor, Jackson Barreto, during an interview at the Summer Palace.

Jackson recalled that during his last visit to Déda in São Paulo, approximately a month ago, the incumbent confirmed his willingness to resign and hand over the position to him. “Déda is a man of his word. He promised, and I don't believe he'll back down on that. I can't doubt his word,” JB commented.

elections

The acting governor commented on the 2014 election process. He said he is satisfied with the popular acceptance and believes his name is always well remembered by the humblest people in Greater Aracaju, and this is also happening in the interior. "People know who gets things done and who is a predator," he declared.

Regarding a possible rejection he might face among the middle class in Aracaju, he stated that "people in this segment are observing that I am committed to Sergipe and to the capital, that I work, that I am responsible. This leads them to reevaluate their votes. I think the voter will be able to assess and choose between a candidate with commitment and a predator," he said.

Predator

When asked who the “predator” was, Jackson Barreto stated that “the middle class of Aracaju sees me as a manager and, for sure, will not value the predator, that element that is anxious to be governor not to work for the well-being of the people of Sergipe, but for their own well-being. I am not desperate, but the predator is. The predator would fit the profile of the PDI (Partidos Dois Irmãos), which journalist Ivan Valença always talks about on Sundays in his column,” he explained.

Jackson Barreto stated that he does not believe that the mayor of Aracaju, João Alves Filho (DEM), will decide to run for governor of Sergipe next year. “João would have to leave the government in March without significant achievements to show the electorate. Therefore, I don't believe he is willing to enter the race,” he concluded.

Members of Parliament and Secretaries

Regarding the criticism from government-aligned deputies that they are not even being attended to by some secretaries, the acting governor acknowledges that the problem persists, despite his insistence that they not only receive but also provide all the necessary information so that parliamentarians can take a stand in debates at the Legislative Assembly. "It may be a lack of democratic coexistence, but that will have to change. They will have to fall in line," he warns.

PT vs. PMDB

Jackson also denies any dispute over positions between the PT and PMDB parties. "What fight over positions? The PMDB had one secretariat and now has two – Agriculture and Planning, which for now are occupied by a single secretary, José Sobral," emphasizes the acting governor, who defends maintaining the understanding between the parties that have formed the governing base since Governor Marcelo Déda's first term in 2007. "In Sergipe, the PT, PMDB, PSB, and PCdoB have always been historical allies."
