Janaina Paschoal says she is no longer sure about the impeachment.
"I confess I'm worried about this whole story of new elections, which is like a siren's song, capable of pleasing everyone. People are starting to hesitate regarding impeachment. Especially since I don't know if it's true or not that the PT and Dilma have already expressed their desire to bring forward the elections," said the lawyer, author of the impeachment request; "I feel very insecure about the impeachment because I clearly see the obstruction of the prosecution and this story of new elections captivating many politicians," she stated.
Pernambuco 247 - Lawyer Janaina Paschoal, who filed the impeachment request against elected president Dilma Rousseff, said she is no longer so convinced that the removal will actually be carried out.
"I confess I'm worried about this whole story of new elections, which is like a siren's song, capable of pleasing everyone. People are starting to hesitate regarding impeachment. Especially since I don't know if it's true or not that the PT and Dilma have already expressed their desire to bring forward the elections. I feel very insecure about impeachment because I clearly see the obstruction of the prosecution and this story of new elections captivating many politicians," she said in an interview with Rádio Jornal do Commercio.
In the interview, she also criticized what she called the "differential treatment" given to President Dilma Rousseff's defense in the special committee analyzing the impeachment process in the Senate. "What I'm feeling is a very big difference in the treatment being given to the prosecution and the defense. It's clear that the defense has more time and opportunity to say whatever they want without being tied to deadlines or agencies. But when it's the prosecution's turn, the opposite happens," she stated.
She also said she didn't understand the criticism leveled by the PT against the rapporteur of the impeachment process, Senator Antônio Anastasia (PSDB-MG). "I'm impressed that the PT has the audacity to say that the rapporteur is biased, because so far everything he has done has been favorable to the PT," she exclaimed.
