Jackson: "We're going to double our efforts until the last day of the campaign."
Governor Jackson Barreto, running for re-election with the PMDB party, believes that "the people of Sergipe understood his proposals" during the last three months of the campaign; he emphasizes that he is very happy with the people's receptiveness, but stresses that he is also aware that "the responsibility is even greater"; "We will double our efforts until the last day of the campaign. And we will also be vigilant, so as not to allow the old ways of the old schemes used by a gang that calls itself a political group to have the chance to do what they usually do in elections. We will be vigilant, because they are desperate. But the people of Sergipe do not want this delinquency in the state government and will not let the state become a marketplace for deals," he stated.
Valter Lima, from Sergipe 247 - Governor Jackson Barreto, candidate for re-election by PMDB, believes that “the people of Sergipe understood his proposals” during the last three months of the campaign. He emphasizes that he is very happy with the people's receptiveness, but stresses that he is also aware that “the responsibility is even greater”. Last Sunday (28), after six hours of motorcade in Aracaju, he spoke with Sergipe 247 about the final stretch of the campaign, demonstrated optimism about the election result and did not miss the opportunity to criticize the opposing group.
“We will double our efforts until the last day of the campaign. And we will also be vigilant, so as not to allow the old ways of using the old schemes employed by a gang that calls itself a political group to have the chance to do what they usually do in elections. We will be vigilant, because they are desperate. But the people of Sergipe do not want this delinquency in the state government and will not let the state become a marketplace for deals,” stated Jackson Barreto.
Asked about the research published by City Newspaper Showing an 11 percentage point lead over candidate Eduardo Amorim (PSC), the governor said that the numbers "encourage, stimulate and motivate us to continue the fight and work," but stressed that "victory can only be celebrated on October 5th, after 18 pm."
Regarding the motorcade in Aracaju, which traveled through the city's main neighborhoods, the governor said he was "very happy" with the "waves, kisses, and hugs from people" along the route. "We made a point of circulating throughout the city so that the motorcade could serve as a barometer, and we realized that the city, from north to south, is thinking the same way: Aracaju will vote for number 15. This gives me great joy and, at the same time, an even greater responsibility. Because I know how heavy the weight of being governor is. But I am prepared to face the challenges," he stated.
Motorcade
Governor Jackson Barreto's motorcade began in the Santo Antônio neighborhood and traveled through the neighborhoods of Santos Dumont, Japãozinho, Jardim Centenário, Agamenon Magalhães, América, Costa e Silva, Castelo Branco, Ponto Novo, Orlando Dantas, Augusto Franco, Santa Tereza, Mosqueiro, and Aruana, ending at the Pôr do Sol waterfront. From there, the group continued to the Atalaia waterfront, where the parade concluded.
Senatorial candidate Rogério Carvalho (PT), federal deputy candidates Edvaldo Nogueira (PC do B) and Fábio Mitidieri (PSD), and state deputy candidate Robson Viana (PMDB) also participated in the procession. The vice-governor candidate, Belivaldo Chagas (PSB), said that the people's reception reveals "recognition of everything Jackson has been doing for Sergipe."
Events
Last weekend before the election, Governor Jackson Barreto's agenda included a series of campaign activities in the interior of the State. In his hometown, Santa Rosa de Lima, on Saturday (27), he was cheered so much that he had to get out of the truck and complete the route on foot.
At every street he passed, Jackson spoke to and hugged people, chatting with friends and family. But the governor's most emotional moment came during a warm embrace with his 94-year-old aunt, Dona Janoca, whom he considers a mother. And the warm embrace was filled with tears of joy and nostalgia.
“I cannot fail to mention the land I love and where I was born. I felt great emotion when I arrived in my land, because I was born on this soil and I will not forget it. Under the grace of God and Saint Rose of Lima, I want to thank everyone who is here. Such a small city, but one that has a governor and will have a governor again to help Santa Rosa and to do politics with heart, without separating people. I don't want to be a wall to separate, I want to be a bridge to connect my land and I will continue working,” he said. On the same day, the governor also visited the cities of Siriri, Divina Pastora, Capela and Nossa Senhora das Dores.

On Saturday evening, he participated in a large march in Laranjeiras. Welcomed by Mayor Juca Araújo, businessman Marcos Franco, and federal deputy candidate Fábio Reis, Jackson walked through the city streets and received the affection of the people, who celebrated and declared their support for the coalition.
“I am happy. No politician is as important as the people. Because without the people, we are nothing. I want to thank you for this lively walk through the streets, for the beautiful mobilization. I want to continue working for Laranjeiras, to bring more projects,” he said.
Itabaiana
In Itabaiana, JB was greeted by a large crowd. There, he participated in the traditional Fogaréu procession. During the event, he said that after assuming the governorship following the death of Marcelo Déda, he had considered retiring, but reported that his closest friends had alerted him to "a danger."
“There was a moment in my life when I revealed to my friends that I would no longer be a candidate, that it was time to go home and rest. I remember calling Déda's widow, and she is here to testify, and I even cried and said that I didn't want to participate in an election campaign. Because I felt, at that moment of replacing Governor Marcelo Déda, that I had already fulfilled my mission. But my friends got together and said that I didn't have the right to tarnish my biography, to be a coward at that time,” he said.
"And when I imagined my state in the hands of these evil people, I accepted the mission of being governor because I saw my state in danger, that it could fall into the hands of the Amorim family. That's how I understand our journey. Eduardo Amorim already had his inauguration suit ready, but they can set the suit on fire, because he's not going to win," he stated.
