Jackson will make minor changes to the secretariat.

The Chief of Staff position is expected to be filled by Zezinho Sobral (PMDB), the current Secretary of Planning; the Secretary of Government, Pedro Lopes, will return to his position as head of the Sergipe office in Brasília, and his place will be taken by the Secretary of Justice, Benedito Figueiredo (PMDB); the PRB party, with Chico Dantas, will gain control of the Agriculture Secretariat; JB will then appoint new secretaries for Planning, Justice, and Urban Development (which was managed by Lúcia Falcon, who resigned); these changes will take place this month.

Sergipe 247 - The changes to the cabinet by Governor Jackson Barreto (PMDB) are not expected to be substantial. The position vacated by Silvio Santos, who left the Civil House, will be filled by Zezinho Sobral (PMDB), the current Secretary of Planning. The Secretary of Government, Pedro Lopes, will return to his position as head of the Sergipe office in Brasília, and his place will be taken by the Secretary of Justice, Benedito Figueiredo (PMDB). The PRB party will gain control of the Secretariat of Agriculture, headed by Francisco Dantas. This information comes from journalist Diógenes Brayner, published in Correio de Sergipe and Faxaju.

He further emphasizes that it is clear that, up to this point, there will be reassignments, opening up spaces for appointments in Seplag, Sejuc, and the Secretariat of Urban Development (Sedurb), whose head, Lúcia Fálcon, had already cleared her desk to leave. The empty positions will be filled by allies, and others that may become vacant will also be included in the package of offers to parties that join the alliance currently led by Jackson Barreto.

PROPOSED NAMES AND MINOR REFORM

Governor Jackson Barreto (PMDB) will not make a profound change in his cabinet. Some names are already emerging as certain to fill positions that are naturally becoming vacant, such as the Chief of Staff position, where its occupant, Silvio Santos (PT), resigned to begin his pre-campaign work for state representative. Silvio has already met with allies and officially announced this political project.

Silvio Santos's position will be filled by Zezinho Sobral (PMDB), the current Secretary of Planning. The Secretary of Government, Pedro Lopes, would return to his position as head of the Sergipe office in Brasília, and his place would be taken by the Secretary of Justice, Benedito Figueiredo (PMDB). Furthermore, the PRB party will gain control of the Secretariat of Agriculture, headed by Francisco Dantas.

It is noticeable that, up to this point, there will be reshuffling, opening up spaces for appointments in Seplag, Sejuc, and the Secretariat of Urban Development (Sedurb), whose head, Lúcia Fálcon, had already cleared her desk to leave. The empty positions will be filled by allies, and others that may become vacant will also be included in the package of offers to parties that join the alliance currently led by Jackson Barreto.

Administrative reform, including the merging of departments or the elimination of others, is unlikely due to the legal process, which will have to go through the Assembly, currently in recess until February 15th, 45 days before the deadline for candidates to resign from their positions in the October elections.

Secretariats like Sedurb should not be abolished – as some have imagined – because they have resources to receive, which will be lost if they are no longer integrated into the government structure. Secretaries who intend to run for office should already be thinking about freeing themselves from this obligation, so that they have more time to plan their campaigns and begin visiting their bases and winning over new voters.

Jackson intends to keep together the parties that support his government and expand this alliance with other parties that are not aligned with his opponents. He aims for one objective: to attract Mayor João Alves Filho (DEM) to his side. This would open the vice-presidential slot on the ticket for federal deputy Mendonça Prado (DEM), although at this moment the name of Valadares Filho (PSB) is highly regarded.

Winning over João Alves Filho has also become a desire of the group led by Edvan Amorim, whose candidate for governor is Senator Eduardo Amorim (PSC). Both are offering a spot on the main ticket, including for the Senate, which could be Senator Maria do Carmo Alves (DEM). One detail: in this arrangement, Mendonça Prado is not included, since he has publicly expressed political positions contrary to the Amorims.

But Mayor João Alves Filho is a treasure trove, whose secrets he keeps under lock and key. Could João be a candidate for Governor? That's the big, unsettling question. Skilled and experienced in this game of moving the pieces on the political chessboard, the mayor doesn't give a single clue to unravel this mystery.

On this subject, by the way, he refuses to speak, despite following and liking to see his name at the top of public opinion polls.

João Alves Filho has been talking with Senator Valadares. He also talks with Senator Eduardo Amorim. Most of the time it's to resolve some problem in Brasília. There is no information regarding political conversations. It is deduced that João Alves Filho's position will only be revealed at the end of March, if he resigns from the Aracaju City Hall. In that case, he will be a candidate, with a chance of winning.

If he remains in office, he will be the object of seduction from both groups. Whoever wins his heart will almost certainly be elected on October 05th of this year.
