Goiás 247 - Mayor Iris Rezende (PMDB) finds himself in another controversy due to his government team. Wesley Batista was appointed to the position of chief of staff at IMAS (municipal health plan). He is being investigated by the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office (MPF) and the Federal Police in an operation investigating the embezzlement of school lunch funds in the municipal education network in Goiânia in 2015.

At the time, Wesley was the director of the Educational Food Department of the Municipal Education Secretariat, and after a complaint from councilman Elias Vaz (PSB), Wesley was dismissed by Mayor Paulo Garcia (PT). In July of last year, the employee received a three-month suspension by decision of a commission established by the city hall to investigate the allegations.

"I will inform the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office about this situation. It is a great absurdity that a public official under investigation for something so serious should assume a position of trust again. Society and institutions cannot accept this," said Elias Vaz.

In 2015, Elias Vaz filed a complaint after discovering that the city hall had spent over R$ 3 million on items that never reached schools and daycare centers, such as cassava flour biscuits and vanilla cake, and a shortfall of 64 kilograms of beef. Meanwhile, there was a food shortage for the students.
