On Wednesday night, Internacional and Criciúma faced off in the 24th round of the Brazilian Championship at the Beira-Rio stadium in Porto Alegre. The final score was 3-0 for the team from Rio Grande do Sul. With this result, Internacional provisionally climbed to second place, as São Paulo still has a game to play against Flamengo in this round, now totaling 44 points, while Criciúma remained in 19th position with 23 points.

In the next round of the competition, Inter will face Coritiba on Sunday at 18:30 PM (Brasilia time). Criciúma will play against Chapecoense on Saturday at 18:30 PM (Brasilia time).

O JOGO

In the first ten minutes of the match, Inter's intention to attack Criciúma was clear, attempting to maintain possession and develop plays, but the game remained even. However, the Santa Catarina team defended well, preventing their rival from gaining ground. The setback was the substitution of striker Silvinho, who ended up getting injured, for his teammate Bruno Lopes.

After several attacks, Colorado finally managed to create a dangerous chance for the opposing goalkeeper, Bruno. In the 13th minute, after a good exchange of passes, Gilberto came from behind and took a beautiful shot, but the Tigre goalkeeper made a great save.

Up until the 25th minute, the team from Rio Grande do Sul maintained an offensive posture, not giving the opponent any chances to launch counter-attacks. Only at the 27th minute did Inter decide to try again from outside the area, however, Alex's shot ended up hitting the defense of the Santa Catarina team.

With Colorado applying pressure, an extremely dangerous play occurred for the home team in the 31st minute. Aránguiz attempted a cross, the ball was deflected, and on the rebound, Alex tried a beautiful shot that exploded off the crossbar, much to the despair of the fans.

After the initial tension subsided on the part of the coal miners' team, they sought to maintain possession of the ball, preventing their rivals from developing it. However, in the following play, Cléber Santana attempted to head the ball to Dida, but it went weakly wide.

But Criciúma's quick attack was in vain. In the 36th minute, after a cross from D'Alessandro, Rafael Moura attempted a header, but Bruno made a brilliant save. The attack left the rival without a chance, and in the 40th minute, Aránguiz, receiving a pass from Fabrício, controlled the ball and finished beautifully with no chance for Bruno. The score was now open at Beira-Rio: 1-0.

The attempt encouraged Inter to further increase their lead. In the 44th minute, D'Alessandro took the free kick, the ball bounced on the ground, and Bruno was forced to make a good save. It was the last dangerous play of the game, leaving Marcelo de Lima Henrique to end the first half.

Returning for the second half, Dal Pozzo decided to substitute Serginho with Paulo Baier. However, just two minutes in, Eduardo Sasha, taking advantage of a mistake by Alex, finished into Bruno's net. Internacional extended their lead to 2-0.

The goal made Colorado more comfortable in the match, seeing a completely disorganized Criciúma. Then, seven minutes later, D'Alessandro, taking advantage of a good pass from Eduardo Sasha, finished with precision to score Inter's third goal of the match.

After that feat, Inter relaxed more in the match, leaving the game more open to Criciúma. However, despite attempts by Tigre, the players were thwarted by Dida and company, much to Dal Pozzo's despair. Only in the 24th minute did Lucca, with a beautiful free-kick, trouble the Colorado goalkeeper, who managed to make a good save.

Seeing the opponent's partial reaction, Abel Braga opted to take Alex off the field, replacing him with Willians. However, even with a more relaxed approach, the team from Rio Grande do Sul, at 28 minutes, ended up having a penalty in their favor when Fábio Ferreira brought down Sasha. He-Man missed the penalty, which was immediately met with intense boos from the fans.

On the other hand, the Tigre coach, who still believed in a comeback, chose Lucca to be substituted, with striker Zé Carlos entering in his place. However, as time went on, the Santa Catarina team didn't show such strong offensive power, leading Abel to make two more changes, taking off Rafael Moura and Eduardo Sasha, and bringing on Maurides and Valdívia.

Until stoppage time, Colorado remained dominant on the field, without suffering even a single real goal-scoring threat from the coal miners' team, finishing the match 3-0 with much celebration in the stands.
