247 - Influencer Brendo Yan, 27, from Rio Grande do Norte, died on Wednesday (27) due to an allergic reaction after eating a cassava cake stuffed with shrimp.
Victoria Figueiredo, the influencer's wife, reported that they received the food from a neighbor on Saturday (22), and ate it without knowing what the filling was.
"We were on a video call with my mother, and he said goodbye and left the call. When I hung up, he had already started eating the dumpling. Then I asked, 'What's inside?' and he said it was chicken. I said it smelled like fish, but it really didn't taste or smell like shrimp, it was very shredded," she told the newspaper O Globo in an interview.
According to the publication, Brendo started feeling unwell and took an antihistamine. When there was no improvement, he was taken to an emergency room in Natal, where he suffered cardiac arrest and had to be resuscitated by doctors.
