It's recovering again.

In Bahia, the results for the month of November indicate that, after the drop in October – influenced by collective vacations and the blackout – the industry is recovering significantly again.

The 4,4% variation compared to the previous month was influenced by the strong performance of the Chemical Products (24,8%) and Motor Vehicles (77,4%) sectors. The month's result brought the industry's three-month moving average back into positive territory.

Compared to November 2012, the 0,9% increase was positively influenced by five of the eight segments of Bahia's manufacturing industry, among which the following stand out: Chemical products (4,6%), driven by the manufacture of sodium hydroxide (caustic soda), polyvinyl chloride, ethanolamines and their salts, and titanium dioxide; Petroleum refining and alcohol production (5,1%); and Basic metallurgy (13,6%).

Conversely, the main negative impact came from the Food and Beverages segment (-15,2%), driven by lower production of flours and pellets from soybean oil extraction, crude soybean oil, soft drinks, beers, and draft beer. Other negative contributions were recorded by Rubber and Plastics (-12,5%) and Pulp, Paper, and Paper Products (-4,0%).
