Fire at Juvenile Detention Center causes 9 deaths.

The Fire Department has not released the cause of the fire. According to preliminary information, the inmates themselves started the fire during an alleged attempted rebellion. The fire has already been extinguished.

In a statement, the press office of the Secretariat for Women, Social Development, Racial Equality, Human Rights and Labor (Secretariat for Citizens), responsible for the CIP, denied that there had been a rebellion, but did not give further details about the fire.

The department said it will only release more information about the damage and measures to be taken at the site after the work of the Fire Department and the Military Police.

Governor José Eliton (PSDB), who is in Cuiabá to participate in a meeting of the Central Brazil Governors' Forum, informed that he will immediately return to Goiânia because of the tragedy.
