Imbassahy: the lack of action against the drought is undeniable.

Tucano refuted the statement by the Chief of Staff and pre-candidate for governor from the PT party, Rui Costa, who in an interview with the newspaper A Tarde said that the opposition cannot question the effects of the drought; "One cannot expect much from someone who defended, as the main action of government, the distribution of orange juice to the people of the Sertão region," says Imbassahy.

The minority leader in Congress, Representative Antônio Imbassahy (PSDB), reacted to the statement by the Chief of Staff and pre-candidate for governor of Bahia for the PT, Rui Costa, that the opposition cannot question the effects of the drought that has plagued Bahia and the entire Northeast for two years.

The politician stated that "the absence of structural projects to combat drought is unquestionable, as is the fact that the government has inexplicably abandoned a water resources management program," through which, during the government of Paulo Souto (DEM), for example, the França, Pindobaçu, Pedras Altas, Apertado, Ponto Novo, Bandeira de Melo dams and many more were built.

"One cannot expect much from someone who advocated, as the main action of government, the distribution of orange juice to the people of the Sertão," Imbassahy said ironically. The politician added that, "in a blatant manner, the government spends fortunes on propaganda, in a clear demonstration of a lack of interest in the people of the Sertão."

"Propaganda serves many purposes, but it cannot alleviate the pain of the people of the Sertão region who see their crops and livestock, their means of survival, decimated by the lack of water."
