Bahia 247 - The current leader of the PSDB in the Chamber of Deputies, Antônio Imbassahy from Bahia, has become the favorite to assume the presidency of the House in the elections of February 2017, when the 'interim' term of Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ) will end.

According to the newspaper O Globo, there is a possibility that Maia will support Imbassahy, which has already been mentioned in a meeting with the PMDB. The new president of the Chamber of Deputies reportedly stated that there was no commitment to the PSDB, but an alliance with them would be "natural".

Imbassahy, for now, denies any interest in the election, but acknowledges that the PSDB party aspires to the position. "It's clear that the PSDB, being a party of political strength and influence, and with the personnel it has, can present itself as an alternative at the appropriate time," said Imbassahy.
