IBGE: Goiás industry has the 2nd highest increase in February.
Industrial production grew in eight of the 14 locations surveyed by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) from January to February of this year, despite a 0,9% drop in the national average; the largest increases were observed in Pará (3,4%) and Goiás (3,2%), according to data from the Monthly Industrial Survey – Regional Physical Production; the industry in Goiás has been performing positively for at least two years and is growing above the national average.
Brazil Agency - Industrial production grew in eight of the 14 locations surveyed by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) from January to February of this year, despite a 0,9% drop in the national average. The largest increases were observed in Pará (3,4%) and Goiás (3,2%), according to data from the Monthly Industrial Survey – Regional Physical Production released today (7).
Other states with growth in industrial production were Paraná (2,4%), Amazonas (2,2%), Rio Grande do Sul (1,6%), Ceará (1,1%), São Paulo (0,3%) and Santa Catarina (0,2%). The national decline was influenced by decreases in production in six locations, among them Rio de Janeiro, which had the worst performance (-7,1%).
From January to February, declines were also observed in Bahia (-6,4%), Pernambuco (-2,3%), Minas Gerais (-1,9%), the Northeast (-0,7%), and Espírito Santo (-0,4%).
In other types of comparison, IBGE also analyzes the state of Mato Grosso, in addition to the 14 locations. Comparing February of this year with the same period last year, there was a decline in 12 of the 15 locations surveyed, notably Bahia (-23,2%) and Amazonas (-18,9%). Among the three locations with increases, the highest rate was in Espírito Santo (25,6%).
In the year-to-date and 12-month accumulated figures, production fell in 11 locations, while growth was recorded in four locations.
