TV 247 – A proponent of the bill that punishes abuses of authority, Senator Humberto Costa (PT-PE) gave an interview to TV 247 and stated that Brazil is currently witnessing a rebellion within the Public Prosecutor's Office.
"If some prosecutors want to get involved in politics, they should resign from their positions, join a political party, and run for elected office," he states. He also condemns public statements by prosecutor Deltan Dallagnol, from the Lava Jato task force, who has begun publicly criticizing the bill. "It's an attempt to turn society against Congress," he says.
Costa claims that former president Lula has been the victim of constant abuses, which even contributes to his rise in the polls. He cites as examples the coercive questioning and the leaking of his phone calls with President Dilma Rousseff, made without judicial authorization.
In the interview, he argued that the left should build a front to resist the Temer government and seek a democratic solution through direct elections.
According to the senator, the pension reform will make the population realize the true nature of the 2016 coup and mobilize them for direct elections.
