Hamilton wins the Italian GP and Massa joins the podium.

The Brazilian's third place is his best result since taking over one of the Williams cockpits; the position crowns a good weekend for the driver, who started fourth and is already confirmed for the 2015 Formula 1 season, also with Williams; Massa also repeated his best performance at Monza this Sunday: in 2010, he finished third with Ferrari.

MONZA (Italy) (Reuters) - British driver Lewis Hamilton won the Italian Grand Prix this Sunday (7) for the Mercedes team and reduced the advantage of his teammate, Nico Rosberg, in the Formula 1 standings to 22 points.

After experiencing problems at the start of the race, the Briton dropped to fourth position after starting first, but Hamilton increased the pressure on his teammate and regained first place.

Rosberg now has 238 points compared to Hamilton's 216, with six races remaining in the championship.

Brazilian Felipe Massa, of Williams, finished third ahead of his teammate Valtteri Bottas, who finished fourth.

Massa's result is his best since taking over one of the Williams cockpits. This third place, moreover, crowned a good weekend for the Brazilian, who started fourth and is already confirmed for the 2015 Formula 1 season.

Massa also repeated his best performance at Monza this Sunday: in 2010, he finished third on the track with Ferrari. It was the Brazilian's 37th career podium.
