SP 247 - Former São Paulo mayor Fernando Haddad, campaign coordinator for former president Lula, has been appointed as the lawyer for former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who has been in political prison in Curitiba since April 7.

Haddad holds a law degree from the Largo São Francisco Faculty of Law at USP (University of São Paulo) and is duly registered with the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB). As the former president's lawyer, the former mayor will be able to visit Lula every day and, consequently, handle campaign matters without the help of intermediaries.

Responsible for the government program of Lula's pre-candidacy, the former mayor has been representing the Workers' Party candidate in debates and interviews across the country - sharing the role with Gleisi Hoffmann, president of the Workers' Party, and Emídio de Souza, treasurer of the party and pre-candidate for state representative.

The most recent meeting between the campaign coordinator and the former president was this Thursday, the 28th, along with Senator Gleisi Hoffmann, national president of the PT.
