Haddad: Marta is receiving support from Kassab and Serra.

"I'm not going to question Marta for receiving support from Kassab. He's the one who has to explain. The one who spoke so badly of Marta and is now giving her support is Kassab," said the mayor of São Paulo, Fernando Haddad (PT); "it's impossible for Kassab to have spoken more badly of Marta than he already has"; in the interview with SBT, UOL and Folha, Haddad also associated Marta with Serra, a friend of Matarazzo who worked to get the councilman to accept the PMDB's invitation; "Marta is receiving support from Kassab and I think from Serra as well. Serra is the strategist," he stated, saying he was "very comfortable" with his vice-mayor, Gabriel Chalita (former PMDB, now in PDT).

247 -The mayor of São Paulo, Fernando Haddad (PT), cited Marta Suplicy's alliances with ministers José Serra (PSDB) and Gilberto Kassab (PSD) in the 2016 dispute.

"I'm not going to question Marta for receiving support from Kassab. He's the one who has to explain. It's Kassab who spoke so badly of Marta and is now supporting her," said Haddad. "It's impossible for Kassab to have spoken even worse than he did about Marta."

During the interview with SBT, UOL, and Folha, Haddad also linked Marta to Serra, who is a friend of Matarazzo and worked to get the councilman to accept the PMDB's invitation. "Marta is receiving support from Kassab and I think from Serra as well. Serra is the strategist," he stated, saying he felt "very comfortable" with his running mate, Gabriel Chalita (formerly of the PMDB, now in the PDT).

He also said that the PSDB candidate, João Dória, "sees the city as if it were a company, he doesn't see the city as a place for people to coexist, he sees it more from the perspective of making money."

During the interview with SBT, UOL, and Folha, he criticized the wave of privatization advocated by the PSDB party member. "I don't even know what privatizing a bike path means." He stated he was unaware of any international examples of bike path privatization, a proposal defended by Doria.

Regarding his re-election, he admitted to having "a communication deficit" that he intends to "overcome during the campaign."

“Today it’s not easy to communicate with voters because the country has been consumed for four years by national debates. Since 2013, the city hasn’t been discussed in the major media outlets. (…) We haven’t had the opportunity to publicize our work,” he says.

He was also categorical about accusations of undeclared campaign contributions in his 2012 campaign: “A campaign has two people responsible. The candidate and their treasurer. What I assure you is that neither I nor my treasurer, who was chosen by me, will be mentioned in any plea bargain (...). Conversations with me and my treasurer, I will answer about them. You won't find a single businessman, nobody, who will say that we colluded with anything that isn't completely within the law” – read here.
