Guerra "makes a mistake," votes for PEC 37 and apologizes.
Federal Deputy Sérgio Guerra (PSDB-PE) stated that he made a mistake when voting in favor of the proposal, which regulates the investigative powers of the Public Prosecutor's Office; in an interview with a local radio station, he apologized for the error: “I want to apologize to the people of Pernambuco. I voted wrong, I was mistaken. I pressed yes when I wanted to press no”; the subject was one of the most discussed topics on Twitter this morning.
PE247 – After voting in favor of PEC 37, which would remove the investigative power of the Public Prosecutor's Office, federal deputy Sérgio Guerra (PSDB-PE) stated that he was confused when voting in favor of the proposal. In the vote, which took place in the early hours of Tuesday (25), 441 deputies of the Federal Chamber rejected the project. In an interview with Rádio Folha FM, the parliamentarian apologized to the population for the mistake.
“I want to apologize to the people of Pernambuco. I voted wrong, I made a mistake. I pressed yes when I wanted to press no,” justified the Tucano. The deputy’s vote in favor of the project was the most commented topic on Twitter on Wednesday morning (26).
The congressman justified his vote: “I made a mistake in my vote on PEC 37. I am so strongly against the proposal that my party's caucus decided to vote against it,” he declared on Twitter. He also informed that after noticing the error, he requested that the Board of Directors correct the vote.
Besides Guerra, the parliamentarians who voted in favor of the bill were João Lyra (PSD-AL), Lourival Mendes (PTdoB - MA), author of the bill, Mendonça Prado (DEM-SE), Eliene Lima (PSD-MT), Valdemar Costa Neto (PR-SP), Abelardo Lupion (DEM-PR), Bernardo Santana de Vasconcellos (PR-MG) and João Campos (PSDB-GO), author of the "Gay Cure" bill. Two other deputies, Arnaldo Faria de Sá (PTB-SP) and Paulo Cesar Quartiero (DEM-RR), abstained from voting.
