War: PSDB is the winner with the Campos-Marina ticket.

The president of the PSDB party in Pernambuco, federal deputy Sérgio Guerra, declared that the move of former minister Marina Silva to the PSB favors the PSDB, despite contrary assessments made by members of other parties; according to Guerra, the union between Campos and Marina increases the chances that the 2014 presidential race will be decided in a second round; "If the PSDB has competence, and it does, we will compete on equal terms in this election. What has been said about our loss is irrelevant, because nobody knows what will happen," he said.

PE247 - The president of the PSDB in Pernambuco, federal deputy Sérgio Guerra, declared that the move of former minister Marina Silva to the PSB favors the PSDB, despite contrary assessments made by members of other parties. According to Guerra, the former Green Party member's move to the socialist side helps break the polarization between the PSDB and the PT in the 2014 elections, in addition to increasing the chances that the dispute will be decided in a second round. “The alliance [of Marina and Eduardo] is good for the PSB, as it strengthens Eduardo Campos, and it's also good for democracy. Marina Silva needed a party and Eduardo needed muscle for the majoritarian election, and both achieved that,” he stated. “If the PSDB has competence, and it does, we will compete on equal terms in this election. What has been said about our loss is irrelevant, because nobody knows what will happen,” declared the deputy.

The statement by the congressman, who previously presided over the PSDB at the national level, was a response to comments by Senator Humberto Costa (PT-PE), who claimed that the PSDB's pre-candidate, Senator Aécio Neves from Minas Gerais, would be the most harmed by Marina's entry into the socialist party. According to Guerra, Humberto Costa's statement is completely "meaningless" and that Aécio was also favored by the change in the current political landscape. "This is also good for Senator Aécio Neves' (PSDB) candidacy, as he will be able to compete on an equal footing," he declared.

In an article published on the website of the Teotônio Vilela Institute, linked to the PSDB and directed by the parliamentarian, Guerra reports that "the demonstrations against the PT in power have never been so strong," and that the Workers' Party will face two major oppositions in next year's election: the candidacy of Aécio Neves and that formed by the duo Eduardo Campos and Marina Silva. According to the deputy, the PT "is investing in an anything-goes campaign," but that "the era of President Dilma [Rousseff - PT], Lula [PT] and José Dirceu [PT] is doomed to end" in the 2014 elections, which he classifies as "elections of change."

"The government focused its greatest efforts on trying to block the creation of new parties. It managed to prevent the birth of Rede Sustentabilidade, but it did not appease the desires for change of Marina Silva, Eduardo Campos, and members of the PSDB," reported the congressman, placing the three parties – Rede, PSB, and PSDB – in the same boat, foreshadowing what can be expected in next year's presidential elections.
