By eassim.net - The strike by public employees of the Maceió City Hall is legal. At least that's what the Court of Justice of Alagoas (TJ/AL) decided, after judging a lawsuit filed by the municipal government that requested the illegality of the movement, which began on July 17th.

The decision was made by the case's rapporteur, Judge Fábio José Bittencourt Araújo.

The judge highlighted in his decision that "the Court of Justice of the State of Alagoas understands that the right to strike must be guaranteed, including to providers of essential services, provided that the requirements listed in the legislation governing the matter are met."

City employees in Maceió are requesting a 15,41% salary increase. According to the Union of Municipal Public Servants of Maceió (Sindspref), this percentage represents the accumulated inflation losses from 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017.

On the 1st of this month, the City Hall of Maceió sent a Bill to the Municipal Chamber of Maceió (CMM) that adjusts the salaries of civil servants by 3%. The proposal had already been rejected by the category during negotiations and has not yet been considered by the councilors, at the request of the category.
