247- In the year of his seventieth birthday, singer-songwriter Caetano Veloso will be honored as "Person of the Year 2012" at a gala dinner preceding the 13th Latin Grammy Awards ceremony. The ceremony will take place on November 14th at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas (USA), and on that occasion, artists will perform songs by the artist.
"By honoring Caetano, we honor Brazilian music, and we strongly hope to honor his fantastic career and his music. He is considered one of the most influential Brazilians since the 1960s," declared Gabriel Abaroa Jr., president and CEO of the Latin Recording Academy, in a statement. Caetano has already won two Grammy Awards and eight Latin Grammy Awards.
To celebrate Caetano's 70th birthday, which will be in August, the Universal record label launched the website. www.caetanoveloso.com.br, which brings together the musician's story throughout his 45-year career.
