The Chamber of Deputies approved an invitation for the president of Petrobras, Graça Foster, to explain to parliamentarians the acquisition of a refinery in the United States for more than US$1 billion, during José Sergio Gabrielli's administration.
BRASILIA, March 13 (Reuters) - The Economic Development, Industry and Commerce Committee of the Chamber of Deputies approved on Wednesday invitations to ministers in the government's economic area and to the president of Petrobras, Maria das Graças Foster, to provide explanations to the House.
The first request approved by the committee this Wednesday invites the Minister of Finance, Guido Mantega, the President of the Central Bank, Alexandre Tombini, the Minister of Planning, Miriam Belchior, and the Minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Fernando Pimentel, to a public hearing on the performance of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2012, which was considered weak.
The committee members also approved another invitation for Graça Foster, asking her to explain to the deputies the process of Petrobras' purchase of the Pasadena refinery in Texas.
