"Government Closer to You" remains prohibited.

The Tocantins State Court upheld the ban on the slogan "Government Closer to You" used by the Marcelo Miranda administration, arguing that the decision aims to prevent "personal promotion of the head of the state executive branch"; Judge Jacqueline Adorno stated that the slogan displays political propaganda "disguised as government advertising, since the graphic format refers to the speeches and images repeated by the current Governor during the 2014 elections."

Tocantins 247 - The Tocantins State Court upheld the ban on the slogan "Government Closer to You" used by the Marcelo Miranda administration, arguing that the decision aims to prevent "personal promotion of the head of the state executive branch." Judge Jacqueline Adorno upheld the first-instance decision, which stipulated a daily fine of R$ 50, with a limit of R$ 500. Miranda has 15 days to respond to the decision.

According to the judge's report, the Court of Justice's decision, dated May 30th, prohibits "the repeated broadcasting of institutional advertisements with content equal to or similar to that described herein, whether on television, radio, in print, or online, under penalty of a daily fine payable to the national fund for diffuse rights."

In the document, the judge stated that the slogan or logo "Government Closer to You" displays political propaganda "disguised as government advertising, since the graphic format refers to the speeches and images repeated by the current Governor during the 2014 elections."

Other side

Governor Marcelo Miranda said there was a mistake in the decision that prohibited the use of the logo, pointing out that the ruling will "cause serious harm to the public economy." He denied that there was "any evidence that the use of the aforementioned logo is promoting the head of the state executive branch."

The judge emphasizes that "public administration advertising must always be guided by the public purpose, which, according to the constitutional provision transcribed above, is the education, information, or guidance of society, and cannot be diverted for the purpose of promoting the administrator's person."
