Government guarantees income boost for civil servants earning up to R$ 5,5.

Ceará247 - The Government of Ceará has guaranteed an income boost for public servants who receive up to the general Social Security ceiling, which is approximately R$ 5,5. The measure was approved by the Legislative Assembly at the end of 2016 and is already in effect.

The information comes from the Chief of Staff, Nelson Martins, who also confirms that the income supplement will be phased in, according to the adjustment in pension contributions. "Civil servants who earn up to this amount will receive a 1% increase in 2017, 1% in 2018, and 1% in 2019 to compensate for the increase in pension contributions. It's an income supplement." 

The secretary also confirms that currently, about 80% of state employees in Ceará are paid the maximum pension amount. "It's important to highlight that the state of Ceará's contribution to the pension system will also increase, rising from 22% to 24% in 2017, and to 26% and 28% in 2019," he added. Currently, there are 63 active employees and more than 78 retirees or pensioners, and the increase in both employee and employer (government) contributions is intended to reduce the Ceará pension deficit, estimated at approximately R$ 1,3 billion.
