The government assures that it will not reduce tax incentives.

In a statement signed by Governor Marconi Perillo, Vice-Governor José Eliton, and Secretary Ana Carla Abrão, the state administration affirms "that the position of the Government of Goiás is to objectively seek the full and complete fulfillment of the agreements signed by all parties"; what is under study, according to the statement, is the creation of instruments that seek to monitor and control the compliance of all contracts signed by the State, especially those related to the granting of tax benefits.

Goiás 247 - The Government of Goiás released a statement on Wednesday (4) clarifying that there is no intention to change the tax programs and incentives. The document was signed by Governor Marconi Perillo, Vice-Governor and Secretary of Economic, Scientific and Technological Development and Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, José Eliton, and Secretary of Finance, Ana Carla Abrão Costa.

Contrary to what was reported in a local media outlet, the statement affirms that the position of the Government of Goiás is to objectively seek the full and complete fulfillment of the agreements signed by all parties.

According to the statement, what is being studied is the creation of instruments aimed at monitoring and controlling compliance with all contracts signed by the State, especially those related to the granting of tax benefits.

In this case, during the period of verification of contractual regularity, the public administration may partially suspend the benefits, but, according to the note, once the audit is completed, companies that are fully compliant will have their tax incentives guaranteed in full.

In the statement, the Government also addressed companies that intend to establish themselves in the State, affirming that legal security and respect for signed contracts are guaranteed. "This trust is the central attribute that makes Goiás a differentiated State, capable of attracting new businesses," the document states.

To produce

NOTE OF CLARIFICATION

Regarding the report “State will reduce tax incentives”, published on page 12 of O Popular this Wednesday (04), the following clarifications are necessary:

Created by Law 13.591 of January 18, 2000, the Industrial Development Program of the State of Goiás (Produzir) succeeded the Program for the Promotion of Industrialization in Goiás (Fomentar). Its objective is to contribute to the expansion, modernization, and diversification of the industrial sector in Goiás, in order to stimulate investment and increase competitiveness.

The "Produzir" program directly promotes job and income creation, economic diversification, and state competitiveness.

The strong performance of the Goiás economy is largely due to industrial investments that have strengthened production chains and diversified businesses.

With this in mind, this note serves to emphasize that there are no changes being considered in the State's programs aimed at "reducing tax incentives".

As part of the State's official duty, the creation of instruments aimed at monitoring and controlling the fulfillment of all contracts signed by the State is being studied within the scope of the state administration, particularly those related to the granting of tax benefits. During the period of contractual regularity assessment, the public administration may resort to partial suspension of benefits. Once the audit is completed, companies that are fully compliant will have the full amount of the deferred tax incentive guaranteed.

Therefore, we reiterate that there is no study aimed at reducing tax incentives in Goiás. On the contrary, we objectively want the full and complete fulfillment of the agreements signed by all parties.

Companies looking to establish themselves in Goiás are guaranteed legal security and respect for signed contracts. This trust is the central attribute that makes Goiás a unique state, capable of attracting new businesses.
