Government of Ceará launches Agro + Rural Producer project.
The Agro+Produtor Rural project, which will be launched this Tuesday (12), will benefit 500 farmers from 21 municipalities, with an investment of R$ 2.394.918,00. The project aims to improve and disseminate new technologies, generating increased production and marketing, and especially keeping people in rural areas.
Ceará 247 - The Government of Ceará, through the Secretariat of Agrarian Development, will launch this Tuesday afternoon (12), the Agro + Rural Producer program, a partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply – Mapa. The event will be attended by the municipal secretaries of agriculture from the 21 benefited municipalities and the general coordinator of Rural Development of Mapa, Anderson Simões.
The Agro + Rural Producer project will support small rural producers, creating opportunities for the sustainable development of dairy farming, cashew cultivation, beekeeping, and greenhouse gas mitigation activities. The project aims to improve and disseminate new technologies, generating increased production and marketing, and especially keeping people in rural areas.
In the state of Ceará, the project will benefit 500 farmers from 21 municipalities: Aracati, Icapuí, Cascavel, Pacajus, Pindoretama, Horizonte, Choró, Ocara, Aracoiaba, Barreira, Redenção, Baturité, Acarape, Quixadá, Quixeramobim, Boa Viagem, Milhã, Senador Pompeu, Banabuiú, and Pedra Branca. The project had a total investment of R$ 2.394.918,00, with 83% from the Federal Government and 17% from the State Government.
Small rural producers who demonstrate potential to develop the activities targeted by the project will be considered. For selection, farmers must have at least 30% of their gross family income originating from agricultural and non-agricultural activities on the rural property where they work.
According to the Secretary of Agrarian Development, Dedé Teixeira, the Agro + Rural Producer program will stimulate and encourage associations and cooperatives of rural producers. "Training and guidance will be provided to help expand the supply of food to local and regional markets, especially for the most produced products such as cashew nuts, honey, and forage palm."
In carrying out the project, the Secretariat for Agrarian Development will receive support from associations, cooperatives and unions, municipalities and municipal agriculture secretariats, Ematerce, the Agropolos Institute of Ceará and the Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of Ceará.
