Pernambuco 247 - The theme of management capacity used by the PSB to strengthen the presidential pre-candidacy of the governor of Pernambuco, Eduardo Campos, has gained further support. Campos will be one of the highlights of an event held by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) when he receives two distinctions related to the Governor Award: The Art of Good Governance, promoted by the institution. The award ceremony will take place this Wednesday (15), in Washington, United States.
The awards, which will be presented by the IDB president, Luis Alberto Moreno, were given to entries in the categories of Best Practices in Crime and Violence Prevention and Smart Government: Improving Bureaucratic Procedures for Citizens and Businesses. In the first category, the highlight is the Pact for Life program, implemented by the Secretariat of Social Defense (SDS). Since its implementation in 2007, the state program has recorded successive annual reductions in the rates of Intentional Lethal Violent Crimes (CVLI). This indicator has decreased by 33,4% since 2011, according to official data.
The second distinction refers to a program implemented at the Commercial Registry of the State of Pernambuco (Jucepe) since 2008 that has streamlined the time for opening and closing companies, reducing the time required for these procedures from 15 to just two days.
The competition was launched by the IDB in July 2013, with the aim of identifying, documenting, and disseminating innovative experiences in different areas of public management in governments, and it was very well received by public administrations. The IDB received 71 applications from 30 subnational governments, including Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, and Chile.
