Government of Minas Gerais delivers machinery to 41 municipalities.
The governor of Minas Gerais, Antônio Anastasia, delivered the first 60 machines acquired with resources from the ProMunicípio Infraestrutura program to 41 municipalities in Minas Gerais; with an investment of R$ 13,2 million, the delivered equipment included dump trucks, water tankers, and garbage trucks, as well as motor graders, backhoe loaders, and wheel loaders.
Minas Agency - With the aim of fostering development throughout the State, Governor Antonio Anastasia delivered, this Thursday (31), at the Presidente Tancredo Neves Administrative City, the first 60 machines acquired with resources from ProMunicípio Infraestrutura to 41 municipalities in Minas Gerais. The investment by the Government of Minas Gerais was R$ 13,23 million.
During his speech, Anastasia highlighted that one of the program's main objectives is to foster development in municipalities. "The ProMunicípio program was created with the understanding of the difficulties our municipalities are currently facing. These difficulties are not unique to municipalities, as the Brazilian federated states are also, regrettably, experiencing difficulties due to the absolute concentration of resources at the federal level, which imposes more than 70% of what is collected on the federal government, leaving states and municipalities with the smallest share," stated the governor.
The machinery will be transferred to the municipalities free of charge and includes dump trucks, water tankers, and garbage trucks, as well as motor graders, backhoes, and wheel loaders – ten units of each model. The vehicles are insured until they arrive in the municipality, and the delivery of the machines to the municipalities will be made by the company supplying the vehicles, thus reducing logistics costs for the municipalities.
Alongside Vice-Governor Alberto Pinto Coelho, Anastasia highlighted the fulfillment of the Minas Gerais government's commitment to the municipalities. "When we launched ProMunicípio, we stated that we would deliver the equipment in a simple, direct, and quick way. We are making this delivery and will make many more decentralized deliveries throughout the state," he said.
Upon receiving the keys to two vehicles for Capim Branco, Mayor Romar Gonçalves Ribeiro spoke about the importance of the program for the municipalities of Minas Gerais and about the commitment made by the Government of Minas Gerais. "Today, exactly six months and 20 days after the announcement, the equipment, machinery, and vehicles are arriving in our municipalities, according to each one's participation in the program, without any bureaucracy and with great speed and efficiency. Once again, the Government of Minas Gerais proves itself extremely competent and efficient in carrying out and implementing this program, which only contributes to the growth of the municipalities of Minas Gerais, improving the quality of life of the people in the provision of public services that are so often demanded of us on a daily basis. I want to express our gratitude and our confidence in the governor, a man with a municipalist spirit," highlighted Romar.
The mayor of Medeiros, Manoel Bahia, spoke about the program and the value of the arrival of the new vehicles to the municipalities included. Medeiros, located in the Midwest of the State, was awarded a water tanker truck. "For us, this truck will be of great importance, since during the dry season we are unable to work on our roads.
"Indeed, the truck arrives at the right time so that we can repair our roads before the rainy season. The ProMunicípio program was one of the innovations of the Anastasia government that comes to the aid, especially of small municipalities, since they face very great difficulties. If it weren't for ProMunicípio, we wouldn't have been able to acquire these machines that we are receiving," stated the mayor.
Throughout this year, Governor Antonio Anastasia, Vice-Governor Alberto Pinto Coelho, and the Secretary of State for Government, Danilo de Castro, have signed 450 agreements for infrastructure projects, benefiting 408 municipalities. The total investment from these agreements amounts to R$ 157,86 million. All of them cover road infrastructure projects (paving and road surfacing, and improvements to rural roads), as well as the transfer of funds for the purchase of machinery, road equipment, and vehicles.
The program
The ProMunicípio program aims to foster municipal development through investments in road infrastructure, machinery and road equipment, and vehicles. More than R$ 2,1 billion is being invested, with R$ 420 million allocated to infrastructure – construction (R$ 260 million) and equipment (R$ 160 million).
To participate in the program's initiatives related to this area, intended for municipalities with a population of up to 100 inhabitants, the municipality must register. Disbursements range from R$ 350 to R$ 1,5 million, depending on the population size. Within this range, the municipality can choose to receive equipment or a vehicle (donated by the State) or enter into an agreement to carry out a construction project. It can also choose both.
Also participating in the ceremony were the Secretaries of State Danilo de Castro (Government), Carlos Melles (Transport and Public Works), Cássio Soares (Social Development), Gil Pereira (Development of the Jequitinhonha and Mucuri Valleys and Northern Minas Gerais), Bilac Pinto (Regional Development and Urban Policy), and Wander Borges (Land Regularization), the head of the Governor's Military Cabinet, Colonel Luis Carlos Martins, as well as state and federal parliamentarians and mayors of the municipalities benefiting from the new machinery.
