Goiás 247 - The Vice-Governor and Secretary of Public Security and Penitentiary Administration, José Eliton, was in Palmas (TO) this Friday (06/03), where he participated in the III Forum of Governors of Central Brazil, chaired by Governor Marconi Perillo. After extensive discussion on the formalization of an inter-federative agreement for public security among the states that make up the Inter-State Development Consortium of Central Brazil, the protocol, which had José Eliton at the forefront of the negotiations, was approved by all governors and other representatives who participated in the deliberative meeting in the capital of Tocantins.

With this measure, the union of efforts between governments and various security forces of the states of Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rondônia, the Federal District, Tocantins, and Goiás becomes official, from now on, for strategies and actions to prevent and repress various crimes and, mainly, organized crime, including issues such as drug and arms trafficking and bank robberies, among others.

The inter-federative agreement on Public Security establishes the creation of a Public Security Chamber, integration of the intelligence services of governmental agencies, integrated actions between security institutions, governance meetings between bodies focused on achieving results, actions to prevent violence and actions for qualified repression of crime, in addition to the formation of an Integrated Security Pact. "This consortium, by placing Public Security as one of its strategic themes, sets an example for Brazil," summarized Vice-Governor José Eliton.

Alongside representatives from the states present at the 3rd edition of the Central Brazil Governors' Forum, the vice-governor and Secretary of Public Security, José Eliton, advocated for the approval of the proposed measures. At 11:24 AM, after deliberation by the governors, the approval of the protocol was announced, which was subsequently signed by Governors Marconi Perillo, Rodrigo Rollemberg (DF), Marcelo Miranda (TO), Confúcio Moura (RO), Reinaldo Azambuja (MS), by Vice-Governor Carlos Brandão (MA), and by the Secretary of Planning of Mato Grosso, Marco Aurélio Marrafon, who represented Governor Pedro Taques at the event.

"I thank each Secretary of Public Security [of the states participating in the consortium] and the efforts of the Vice-Governor and Secretary José Eliton so that, together, we may seek peace, tranquility, and security for the populations of our states," said Governor Marconi Perillo.

According to José Eliton, the priority of this agreement, broadly speaking, is the creation of permanent structures for discussion and implementation of actions and solutions to the demands of the states. "We can no longer tolerate the absence of public policies based on common agendas among the federative units, which are responsible for maintaining public safety for the population," he stated.

Regarding the integration of efforts, José Eliton summarized the opinions of all the Secretaries of Public Security and others involved with the police apparatus of these states, who contributed to the drafting of the cooperation agreement: "Together, we are able to expand our operations, work more, and provide the responses expected by the population."

UNITY

During the open meeting of the Central Brazil Governors Consortium, this Friday (06/03), José Eliton took the opportunity to request, on behalf of the other State Secretaries of Public Security, action from the governors with the Federal Government, especially through the parliamentary groups from their states in the National Congress.

This action would take place, for example, through initiatives ranging from advocating in Brasília for stricter laws regarding the enforcement of sentences, to efforts to release contingent funds (more than R$ 11 billion) from the National Penitentiary Fund (Funpen).
