Bahia 247 - Governor Rui Costa (PT) spoke this Monday (30) about the "guidelines that will guide education in Bahia" at the launch event of the 'Pact for Education', at Senai/Cimatec, in Salvador. Named 'Educate to Transform', the program will "guarantee excellence in teaching and access to quality public institutions for children, young people and adults". The state government this morning signed a partnership agreement with the municipalities of the interior and the capital of Bahia through the signing of a commitment agreement with the project.
Rui welcomed 309 mayors and representatives from municipal administrations to present the proposals of the pact, which is based on five basic pillars: collaboration between the state and municipalities, strengthening basic education, vocational education, partnerships with schools, and integration between families and schools.
Axis I focuses on continuing education for teachers and coordinators, production and distribution of textbooks and children's literature by authors from Bahia, technical assistance and technology transfer, 100% classroom instruction, and the Bahia Curriculum.
The program will also facilitate the involvement of businesspeople, public and private institutions, universities, and other social organizations, such as trade unions.
In a press conference, the governor stated that the pact "is a great movement" that has been called 'Educate to Transform' because it will "improve the main education indicators in the state, changing the reality of the entire state of Bahia."
"Here we have mayors, representatives, in other words, all public authorities represented at this initial stage. In April, we will also mobilize civil society with businesspeople, NGOs, and other entities that wish to join the pact. These are major goals and indicators that we want to advance in Bahia," said the governor.
According to Rui, visits to 41 schools in the interior and the capital revealed a disparity in performance, including physical infrastructure, not only between private and public schools, but also between schools within the same network.
"The improvement in schools where the school communities are more mobilized, such as teachers, management, and society, is remarkable. That is why we are here carrying out this great mobilization of the people of Bahia to advance and transform the state of Bahia."
