Tocantins 247 - In a statement released to the press on Monday afternoon, the 21st, the Tocantins News Agency reported that Governor Sandoval Cardoso (SD), a candidate for re-election, instructed the State Secretary of Health, Luiz Antônio Ferreira, that no process of change in the management of hospitals should be carried out without "broad dialogue with representatives of all categories of health professionals and with the population."

"The State Government understands that debate with all actors involved in the provision of health services is fundamental to improving the quality and well-being of citizens," the text says. The Governor also determined that these meetings to discuss issues related to hospital management should be broad, transparent, and immediate, and the first of these will be with a committee of doctors.

A project by the state government foresees the shared management of the Araguaína Regional Hospital (HRA). The Social Organization Instituto Gerir was qualified by the government to manage part of the hospital, such as the acquisition of medicines. The measure has received criticism from health professionals, such as the Doctors' Union (Simed), and from opposition candidates.

According to the State Health Secretariat, the pilot project would be implemented only at the Araguaína Regional Hospital, with a shared management model in which the State Government would be responsible for Human Resources and the contracted social organization would be responsible for the hospital's operation and the purchase of medicines and supplies. The Health Secretariat guarantees that this model will ensure greater efficiency in hospital administration, mainly in reducing the average monthly cost per bed.

Sesau emphasizes that the presented project is one of shared management, different from outsourcing, since decisions will be made jointly (Sesau and the Social Organization), complying with indicators and goals established in the Reference Plan and in accordance with what is advocated by the Unified Health System.
