Goiás experiences a surge and becomes the 3rd largest producer of soybeans.

Goiás 247_ Data from the Municipal Agricultural Production (PAM) survey demonstrates Goiás' strength in agribusiness and agricultural production. The survey figures, relating to the year 2012, were released by IBGE.

Soybeans occupied 25,1 million hectares, or 36,3% of the country's planted area, 1,1 million hectares more than in 2011. Goiás surpassed Rio Grande do Sul and came in third place in the national soybean ranking, behind Paraná and Mato Grosso, which harvested 33,2% of the production.

In sugarcane production, Minas Gerais is the second largest producer, with 9,8% of national production. Uberaba moved from 8th to 3rd place. Goiás, the state that has grown the most in recent years, became the 3rd largest producer. Production in Quirinópolis (GO), the leader in Goiás, grew by 16,7%, making it the 8th largest Brazilian producer.

Just as with bean production, Goiás achieved 3rd place in the national ranking of corn production, with 8,2 million tons produced in 2012 (production value of R$ 3 billion), 43,3% more than the production of 2011, in which 71 million tons were produced and the production value was R$ 26,8 billion.
