Goiás registers a drop in the number of homicides and robberies.

According to the report from the Public Security Observatory of the SSP (Secretariat of Public Security), attempted homicides decreased by 22,36%, while robberies resulting in death fell by 1,75%. "We have been constantly investing in increasing the number of vehicles and equipping our police forces," explained the secretary.

There were also decreases in robberies of pedestrians (-33,56%), vehicle thefts (-30,73%), robberies of businesses (-45,71%), and robberies in residences (-35,51%). “The number of police actions and operations has been increasing. The result is that the feeling of security is constantly growing,” Irapuan emphasized.

Thefts from pedestrians decreased by 20,79%, while vehicle thefts fell by 9,78%. Thefts from businesses dropped by 16,28%. Finally, burglaries from residences showed a decrease of 19,30%.

From January to July of this year, there was an increase of three rape cases compared to the same period in 2017. "We are making a constant effort to curb this type of crime. Another important measure is raising awareness of the importance of women reporting this violence, even when it comes from people in their own family circle," the secretary assured.
