Goiás registered more businesses opening than closing in 2015, says IBGE.
Goiás once again registered more business openings than closings in 2015; as in 2014, the balance of companies, measured by the difference between entries and exits from the market, was positive: entries totaled 28,9 companies and exits totaled 25,5. As in 2014, the net change in the number of businesses, measured by the difference between entries and exits from the market, was positive: entries totaled 28,9 businesses and exits totaled 25,5. The data comes from the Central Business Register (Cempre) for 2015, released this Wednesday (October 4th) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). Proportionally, Goiás performed above the national average. Between 2014 and 2015, the business exit rate (ratio between the number of businesses that closed and the total) in Goiás was 15,3%, while the national rate was 15,7%. The entry rate (ratio between the number of entries and the total) in the state was 17,4% in 2015, an index above the national rate of 15,6%.
During this period, 28,9 companies started operating in Goiás, representing a positive balance of 2,1% in the number of companies, since more companies entered than left, while for Brazil the balance was negative 0,1%. The president of Juceg, Rafael Lousa, believes that 2015 was a year of positive results from the planning and investment work carried out in previous years by Governor Marconi Perillo. "Juceg is committed to offering quality and innovative services to guarantee competitiveness for businesses in opening companies and generating jobs and income," he states.
Occupations
Riding the wave of growth in local businesses, the total number of salaried jobs in these companies also increased. In 2015, Goiás registered a 2,2% decrease in employed personnel in companies and a 4,2% increase in new hires, resulting in a positive balance of 2% in the increase of salaried jobs in active local businesses, while Brazil as a whole also accumulated a positive balance of 1,8% in 2015. The companies that entered the market were responsible for 108,5 new jobs in the state.
In 2015, the sectors with the highest number of new businesses entering Goiás were Electricity and gas (47,7%), real estate (30%), and professional, scientific and technical (24,6%). Conversely, the sectors with the highest number of business exits were public administration, defense and social security (30,8%), construction (21,2%), and extractive industries (18,6%).
The extractive industries, accommodation and food services, and agriculture, livestock, forestry, fishing and aquaculture sectors had the highest increases in employment in Goiás, with rates of 10,3%, 8,0% and 7,1%, respectively. Conversely, the highest rates of job losses were in construction (4,1%), accommodation and food services (3,4%), and other service activities (3,3%).
Survival
The business survival rate in Goiás (the ratio between the number of surviving businesses and the total) was 82,6%, representing a total of 137,4, while the national rate was 84,4% of surviving businesses. Therefore, Goiás totaled 166,3 active local units.
