The Editorial Team (Mônica Parreira) - Governor Marconi Perillo met this Thursday morning (April 16th) with the Executive Director of Operations of the Rio 2016 Committee, General Marco Aurélio Costa Vieira. One of the topics discussed was the planning of the Olympic torch's route next year. After landing in Brasília, Goiás will be the first Brazilian state to receive the competition's most important symbol.

The information was released through the government's official social media channels. As decided in January, the torch will travel through 250 cities in Brazil, but the destinations in Goiás, besides the capital, have not yet been confirmed. The tour is expected to begin in May of next year. The opening ceremony of Rio 2016 will be on August 5th.

Ten thousand people are expected to carry the Olympic torch during the relay, a tradition since the Berlin Games in 1936. It will be lit in Olympia, Greece, and will travel throughout the country before arriving in Brazil.

Tickets for the competition are on sale. Due to high demand, the committee has decided that those interested must register online by April 30th. Tickets will be raffled among the fans who have registered.
