Agribusiness giant to set up shop in Goiás.

A letter of intent between the state government and Limagrain Guerra was signed on Wednesday, the 27th, and foresees an investment of R$ 90 million in a unit in the municipality of Goianésia; the multinational company is present in 45 countries, specializes in grain research and production, and is arriving in the state through the Jalles Machado group.

Goiás247_ Determined to strengthen Goiás's participation in the ranking of international agricultural commodities, Governor Marconi Perillo signed a letter of intent this Wednesday, the 27th, with Limagrain Guerra do Brasil, a company specializing in grain research and production. The multinational, which has business in 45 countries, will establish itself in Goianésia, where it will produce corn and sorghum.

The initial investment will be R$ 62 million in the first phase, and another R$ 28 million over five years. It is projected that 500 direct and indirect jobs will be created. In welcoming the group, Governor Marconi Perillo emphasized that, in addition to fertile land, Goiás offers legal security to investors.

Limagrain is entering the Goiás market through the Jalles Machado group, owned by the family of former governor Otávio Lage de Siqueira. "You chose a municipality that has a strong leader with great credibility," the governor said to the company's president in Brazil, Alfonso Tejada Salvatierra, referring to the mayor of Goianésia, Jalles Fantoura, son of the former governor, who was present at the ceremony held at the Palácio das Esmeraldas.

Limagrain possesses cutting-edge technology in agricultural products. It is the leading grain producer in Europe and the second largest in the United States. According to director Alfonso Tejada, of the current revenue of 1,7 billion euros, 14% was invested in research last year. The company, which already has a research center in Goianésia, will soon install a technological complex in Goiânia, specializing in agricultural seed research.

In addition to the governor, those participating in the signing ceremony of the letter of intent included the mayors Jalles Fontoura (Goianésia) and Solange Bertulino (Uruaçu), the state secretaries Simão Cirineu (Finance), Alexandre Baldy (Industry and Commerce), Mauro Faiad (Science and Technology), Antônio Flávio de Lima (Agriculture), the vice-president of the Legislative Assembly, state deputy Hélio de Sousa (DEM), the directors of Limagrain South America, Alfonso Tejada Salvatierra and Emannuel Aubry, as well as technicians from the government's economic area.
