Job creation falls, but Goiás maintains average.
The state generated 29.132 jobs in the first quarter of 2013; this is the worst result in the last four years. Even with the slowdown, Goiás is one of the states that maintains a growth rate – Alagoas, for example, generated just over 15 jobs in the same period. The expectation is that the number of jobs will increase in the second half of the year.
Goiás 247_ Goiás generated 29.132 jobs in the first quarter of this year, according to Caged figures. This is the worst result in the last four years, but even so, the state continues to present a favorable scenario. Alagoas, for example, generated just over 15 jobs in the same period of 2013.
Economist Cláudio Henrique de Oliveira, from Fieg, stated on the CBN Goiânia program that the manufacturing industry was responsible for 2.086 jobs. He explained that the decline shown by Goiás is normal and occurs due to measures taken at the national level, such as the increase in the Selic rate, which inhibits investments.
Economist and commentator Leandro Resende also participated in the CBN Goiânia program "Cenário Econômico" and spoke about the subject. Leandro stated that the Caged numbers show that in Goiás there was an elastic effect and the forecast is that job openings will start growing again in the second half of the year.
Leandro points out that there has been a slowdown, as Goiás had been performing very well – consistently posting more than 30 new jobs in the first quarter of the year. In 2012, it even reached 38 jobs.
"Goiás has a tendency to generate more jobs in the first half of the year due to agriculture. 29 jobs in the quarter is very good, but the state is likely to fall far short of 100 jobs for the year," said Leandro.
