A post by the president of the PMDB party in Bahia, Geddel Vieira Lima, on Twitter last night took the political scene by surprise. Judging by his words, the vice-president of Corporate Banking at Caixa Econômica Federal is about to leave his post to dedicate himself exclusively to his candidacy for governor of the state in 2014.
"The time is coming to return to Bahia. I'm talking about returning to Bahia for good," the former minister posted to his more than 13 followers on Twitter.
Geddel spent more than two hours last night interacting with his followers about the results of the Ibope poll that revealed Bahia is the state with the highest number of people who have left Bahia. "People from Bahia are fleeing Bahia. What have these people done to my land!", he lamented.
The PMDB candidate continues to lead in the opinion polls conducted so far. After Mayor ACM Neto (DEM), who rejects the possibility of running for office, Geddel appears ahead in the scenario compared to the possible candidates from Governor Jaques Wagner's (PT) base for his succession.
An Ibope poll conducted between the 17th and 21st of this month, with 1008 people, indicates that the mayor from the DEM party has 26% of the voting intentions. In the prompted poll, when the candidates' names are presented, the opposition appears in the top three positions. ACM is followed by former governor Paulo Souto (DEM), with 14%, and by Geddel, with 13%. Without ACM Neto's name in the survey, the PMDB candidate would have 30%.
