Geddel: "The time has come to turn the page on the PT"
"It's impossible to live in a state where the public machine can't handle the violence. The governor lacks the right attitude. We can't sweep the problem under the rug. Bahia has the worst education indicators, not to mention healthcare. We need a vision for Bahia to move forward; it's not enough to focus on the Salvador Metropolitan Region, which is very important for development, but we need a clear policy for the semi-arid region, which occupies two-thirds of our territory"; the PMDB member spoke at the launch of a new website for the PTC, the party that also supports him.
Bahia 247 - The president of the PMDB in Bahia and pre-candidate for governor of the state, Geddel Vieira Lima, fired heavy artillery against the PT administration Jaques Wagner once again this Monday (13) at an event to launch the new website (http://ptc36.org/) from the PTC, the party that will also support him in the election next October.
The PMDB member said that the time has come to "turn the page on the PT" with a project "capable of tackling" the state's problems.
"It's no longer possible to live in a state where the public machine can't cope with the violence. The governor lacks the right attitude. We can't ignore the problem. Bahia has the worst education indicators, not to mention the worst health indicators. And we need a vision for Bahia to move forward; it's not enough to focus on the Salvador Metropolitan Region, which is very important for our development, but we need a clear policy for the semi-arid region, which occupies two-thirds of our territory."
Geddel also spoke of the "lack of prioritization in the Bahia state government's budget," which has made "many mistakes in the allocation of public resources, failing to value education and agriculture, for example."
"I want a debate in favor of Bahia. My commitment is to make Bahia move forward, and if my name is not chosen, I will stand with whoever can lead these concrete changes for Bahia."
The PMDB member again cited the administration of Salvador's mayor, ACM Neto (DEM), which began just a year ago, as a successful example. "Just as Mayor ACM Neto has been doing, with discipline, attitude, and clarity of purpose, changing the reality and image of Salvador for Brazil, we need this partnership with Neto to do the same in the interior and govern closer to the people."
The president of the PTC party, Daniel Tourinho, also publicly thanked Geddel for fulfilling the agreements made and reaffirmed the party's support.
